Spoilers Ahead
Who Did Benji Have A Crush On?
The movie opens with Benjamin, aka Benji, a high school boy, imagining speaking to Bailey, his sister’s best friend. He has had a major crush on Bailey for a long time but he has not been able to convey that. Benji had been waiting all summer to go to the same school as Bailey, his senior, who did not see him as a potential boyfriend. She does, however, like conversing with him, and seems to have been impressed by his maturity.
Why Was Danah Being Bullied?
Along with Benjamin, his friends Eddie, Connor, and Danah joined the high school as well. Benji was assigned a senior named Adam Rubens. Eddie however was complaining to Connor about his mother’s new boyfriend Dennis. Danah was dropped off at school by his older brother Kavyon, also a senior, who bullied and verbally abused the young boy. Without realizing the trauma he was being put through, Danah always wanted to impress Kavyon. Kavyon was popular, and Danah tried to emulate him by wanting to go after girls in the hope his brother would consider the young boy cool.
What Was The Party The Boys Were Looking Forward To?
Danah revealed Kavyon was throwing a big bash at their home, and he was looking forward to meeting loads of seniors, hoping to woo one of them. Initially, he promised to get Eddie, Connor, and Benji into the party. Everyone at the school was buzzing about the party, and these young boys were looking forward to it.
Was Adam Rubens A Crook?
Adam Rubens was assigned to Benji to pick up and drop him from the school, but he was a crook who sold botched-up narcotics and earned money off of it. He sold some of his faux stuff to another young man and ripped him off by taking a huge amount. Benji was aware the stuff was faulty, yet he was asked to keep quiet. Adam also had an electric taser he meant to use if things went out of hand.
Did Studebaker Fake His Persona?
Mr. Studebaker was the chemistry teacher in the school who was personally going through some tough times. By the looks of it, he did not have many adult friends and was possibly going through a divorce. Internally, Studebaker was dealing with anxiety, but externally, he was the cool chemistry teacher many students looked up to. Studebaker was also invited to the party, which he initially declined. The only validation he ever received was from the children at school, and he enjoyed the attention.
Who Was Invited To Danah’s Brother’s Party?
On the evening of the party, Kavyon informed Danah he was allowed to bring only one guest to the party. Danah chose Benji, while Eddie and Connor were not happy with how things turned out for them. Benji wanted to impress Bailey, while Danah monitored the CCTV footage to find a good-looking senior and hoped to woo the girl. Eddie and Connor went back to the former’s home and decided to stay put. Eddie’s mother and her boyfriend Dennis were having a night out when the boys suddenly decided to take Dennis’ Tesla for a spin.
Who Did Eddie And Connor Give A Lift To?
Eddie and Connor drove past Danah’s home when Katrina Aurienna, the most popular girl and an influencer, got drunk. Her friends had booked an Uber, and assumed Eddie and Connor were the drivers who would drop her at her place. Eddie and Connor were in a tight situation, and they asked a drunk Katrina about the location of her home. All she wanted was some food. Eddie and Connor offered her food, which she spilled all around Dennis’ car. After a point, a drunk Katrina lost control of her bowels in the back seat, making the situation worse.
Did Alyssa Confront Her Ex-Girlfriend?
Alyssa was jealous that her ex-girlfriend Nicole left her for another woman. She spent most of her time badmouthing Nicole and her new girlfriend. Alyssa, however, could not stop admiring her own nose as she got it corrected through expensive plastic surgery. She confronted Nicole, hinting at wanting to get back together, but she refused as she pointed out Alyssa was a mean person and no plastic surgery could change her real personality.
Did Danah Lie To Woo A Girl?
Danah was in the CCTV room when he spotted a girl and chose to woo her by showing off his home. He created a fake scenario where he and the girl were stuck in the spa of his home with no cell reception. He sweet-talked her into letting him give her a massage followed by a bath. As he was planning to get some alcohol to make the evening spicier, he slipped on the bathroom floor and broke his shoulder bone. In excruciating pain, he revealed he had created this mood to get to know her as he’d had the key to get out of the spa all this while. The girl was disgusted by his behavior and refused to help him as he lay on the bathroom floor in pain.
Why Did The Fight Start At The Party?
The guy to whom Adam Rubens sold botched-up narcotics showed up at the party to pick a fight with him. Adam was quick to blame Benji for delivering bad-quality stuff. This was followed by a full-blown fight between Kavyon and the new guys who showed up. The fight caused a chain reaction, which led to one of the boys accidentally breaking Alyssa’s nose. Mr. Studebaker, who had also arrived at the party, had begun to showcase his chemistry lessons by involving alcohol, which many children thought was cool. This was followed by him accidentally catching fire and having to jump in the pool to save himself from a horrifying death.
What Happened To Katrina?
Eddie and Connor had the task of cleaning the car from inside out and, at the same time, making sure Katrina was safe as well. They contemplated leaving her on the road, but they were mindful enough to not do that. They shopped for all kinds of cleaning equipment, cleaned her up along with the car, and got her to sleep on Eddie’s bed while they passed out next to it feeling relieved that they did the right thing. Katrina woke up the next day and confronted the boys about how she ended up in their room. They took her through the events of the night, which embarrassed Katrina.
How Did The Party End?
Bailey and Benji got away from the party the moment the fight started. Benji came clean about how he felt for her, and Bailey also revealed she liked him as well, but she was not keen on taking this public as she was a senior. This was followed by Benji being treated as a hero of the party for bringing together the two groups who had been fighting but had now become friends. The party ended with the police showing up and witnessing Benji being high on Ketamine. Bailey was a witness to Benji taking ketamine and she walked out on him. Alyssa was in the hospital for a broken nose. She asked her brother to be himself and not act cool because Bailey did like Benji. Alyssa and Danah met at the hospital as they both were injured. Alyssa was mad about Nicole’s harsh words, but Danah asked her to be the way she was and not change her personality. Alyssa was moved by Danah’s words, but he used this moment to ask her out, which disgusted her as well.
Was Eddie And Connor Treated Differently?
A few days after the party, the entire school gathered at the basketball court for some mundane announcements. The whole point of this scene was to bring together all the characters from the party in one room in broad daylight. Many embarrassing incidents had happened, and the kids were only trying to forget the night. Either they would learn a lesson from that evening or continue making the same mistakes.
Danah revealed that he finally understood his brother was abusive. This revelation came out of nowhere, when just a few nights before he was worshiping Kavyon. He had learned no lesson from the injury, yet he could see his brother for who he was, which brought an abrupt closure to his character. Danah tried to woo Alyssa, but she was not interested as he was a young boy who was not mature enough to make sound decisions. Eddie and Connor were invited by Katrina to join her and her friends. Danah wanted to join them, but they asked him to stay put. This was like sly revenge on him for not letting them into Kavyon’s party.
Katrina stood up to the bullies harassing Eddie and Connor as she used her popularity to help the two who’d saved her and treated her with dignity on the night she got drunk. Katrina could have ended up coming across men who may have taken advantage of her. Since Eddie and Connor did not do that, she was indebted to them for life and chose to be their friend.
Did Bailey Accept Benji’s Proposal?
Benji, who wanted to proclaim his love for Bailey, took the advice of his sister seriously. He showed up at the school basketball court and began to sing for Bailey. Benji was a high school freshman, and we think he was highly influenced by the romantic comedies he might have grown up on. We also see satirical bits in this portion of the film as it tries to mock unrealistic ways of wooing a girl. Instead of giving importance to intimacy and privacy, he went overboard with his feelings for Bailey, who was embarrassed by his move.
Bailey turned him down as she did not like the attention he drew towards himself in the presence of the school. Making the profession of love public would pressure any girl to say yes out of obligation. Bailey never wanted to be in this position, which was the reason why she said no, which devastated him. While the school made fun of Benji, Eddie and Connor were by his side. Danah joined the bandwagon and made fun of Benji by recording the proposal. This indicates Eddie and Connor were his true friends. However, the movie ended with Bailey looking at him from the crowd and winking at Benji. She may like him and want to be in a relationship with him eventually.
The post-credits scene involves the school principal having evidence of Mr. Studebaker at the party getting drunk and endangering the children. Mr. Studebaker was immediately fired from the job, making him pay for his actions.
